If time is a barrier, did you know you can improve your health and fitness with shorter exercise sessions spread throughout the day? Using your on-site Fitness Center during a 10-15 minute break, or whenever you have a few moments to spare, can yield great benefits. Three 10-minute workouts still equals a 30 minute workout!

The Fitness Center @Chandler is your onsite fitness center where our staff is passionate about helping you achieve your health goals of increasing your daily activity, building more muscle mass, decreasing your stress level and reducing your blood pressure. The 12,000 sq. ft. center includes treadmills, bikes, Stairmasters, ellipticals, and rowing machines in addition to free weights, strength machines, and functional training equipment. We also provide a wide variety of instructor-led group exercise classes throughout the day.

One highlight of the facility is the state-of-the-art, connected exercise equipment from Technogym. Built-in touchscreen devices allow you to create specialized workout routines, track your progress online, and stay entertained with music, TV, or Internet surfing as you exercise. We invite you join us and our dedicated staff will assist you in your health & fitness journey!

My whole life I have always been an active person, loving the outdoors, etc. I was a gymnast most of my childhood and once I hit high school my passion became long distance running purely by accident, but that’s a story for another time. ☺ May 2006 I decided to up and move to Europe and that’s when my life changed directions. I was working as what we would call a preschool teacher and was not enjoying it as much as I thought. Around the same time due to some obstacles with my health, the doctor prescribed that I try Yoga. I groaned at the thought, but decided to give it a try. I attended my first yoga class with a rather large ex rugby player and was hooked. He showed me what the world of Yoga had to offer other than stretching as I had previously thought. From that moment on, a Yogi was born! It wasn’t long at all before I traveled to South India to attain my Yoga Certification. That was a life changing experience in itself- two months of eating, sleeping and breathing Yoga. I was in heaven except for not being able to take a proper or hot shower for a couple months. Once I returned and started teaching I slowly became fascinated with all aspects of helping people achieve a healthy lifestyle. I enrolled in a personal training course which is how I got into corporate fitness when my teacher asked me to come work for her at her facility. I have never looked back since!

Outside of work you will find me running, hiking or walking with my dog Axel, and enjoying time with friends. I am also a big movie buff.


Leslie Hughes

It all started with a walk! I couldn’t go very far on the first day. I did what I could and tried again the next. I was 36 years old and at my heaviest weight ever, 360 pounds. That was the start of my health journey, one that would spark a passion for helping others overcome barriers and be their healthiest selves.

In 2011, I had gone back to college and, as a single mother, I was struggling to find balance with my new lifestyle as a full-time student. My weight (and health!) quickly spiraled out of control because of stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. I gained 80 pounds in that first year! I took a hard look at my habits and started making changes such as making time for daily exercise, sleeping more, eating a healthy diet, and learning to cook!

After a lifetime of yo-yo dieting, everything finally “clicked” and I had fallen in love with my new lifestyle. As my fitness increased, the weight started to come off and my health improved. In two and a half years I lost 170 pounds, but I am most excited by the health gains! My HDL (good cholesterol) increased and I am no longer at risk for Type 2 Diabetes.

By 2014, I had decided to transfer to ASU to study Exercise and Wellness instead of going to nursing school. I am most passionate about promoting the health benefits of living an active lifestyle – at any body size and ability. Every body deserves to be strong, move well, and enjoy the highest quality of life.

Outside of work I can be found hiking with my dog, reading, meal prepping, and playing Rock Band 4 with my son.
